The computer's in the server room. Your desk is down the hall. Running a second PC just to check one screen is a waste of money and a headache to manage. The ATEN CE824 fixes that with a single Cat 6 cable.
It pushes uncompressed 4K@30Hz video (or 1080p on two screens), stereo audio, USB, and RS-232 up to 100 metres. Flip on Long Reach Mode and you get 1080p out to 150m — single display, though. You still get full KVM control from the remote end: keyboard, mouse, the lot. No second machine, no dongle stack.
Rack-mount it in the back room, drop the console at your desk. ATEN recommends their 2L-29330 Cat 6 cable for the run, but any quality Cat 6/6A works within spec.
