You've got a control room, a server closet, or a back-of-house AV rack that's 80 metres from the desk where someone actually needs to see and touch it. Running a tangle of separate DP, USB, audio, and serial cables across the ceiling is a nightmare to install and harder to fix when one drops.
The ATEN CE920 handles all of it over a single Cat cable. One HDBaseT 2.0 link carries 4K DisplayPort video, USB, microphone, speaker audio, RS232 serial, and Ethernet from the local unit to the remote unit. No signal degradation, no daisy-chained converters, no "which cable is which" when you're on a ladder at 6am.
Long Reach mode gives you 1920 × 1080 at 150 metres. Need to swap in a CE820 transmitter or receiver later? Mix and match — ATEN built the two lines to be compatible.
