You need a small graphics readout and character LCDs just don't cut it. This 84x48 dot matrix module gives you actual pixel-level control. It runs the PCD8544 chipset — the same one that powered those old Nokia phone screens — so if you've ever wanted to build one of those into a project, this is your starting point. SPI interface means three wires and you're driving pixels. One thing to note: add 10k resistors on the IO pins if you're running off 5V
