You need addressable colour lighting for a project – a sign, a display, a classroom demo – but you don't want to burn four output pins driving red, green, and blue channels separately. And you definitely don't want a tangle of three wires per LED.
This eight-LED WS2812B strip runs off a single Arduino pin. Each LED is individually addressable with 256 brightness levels per channel, so you get full RGB control from one output. Need more? Daisy chain up to 1000 LEDs from that same pin.
Max current draw is 500mA per module, so check your power supply before you stack a hundred of them on one rail. Arduino-compatible out of the box – wire it in, load the library, and start animating
