Soldering looks intimidating until you do it. This kit gives you a real project with a real result: a 3D traffic light that cycles red, amber, and green just like the ones outside your local intersection. The 4017 IC handles the sequencing, and the trimpot lets you adjust the delay between lights so you can dial in the timing. You'll solder nine LEDs, resistors, transistors, capacitors, diodes, and the IC into its socket – a solid range of component types that builds real muscle memory. Medium difficulty. You'll need a soldering iron, solder, and cutters (not included). A 9V battery powers it once built (sold separately). One heads-up: check your C5 capacitor placement against the D13 diode before you commit the solder – some boards have a marking quirk on that component
