The tank fitting itself has gone. You've got a stripped thread or a corroded bung and no way to connect your fuel line to the outboard. This screws directly into the tank on a 1/4" NPT thread. It's the main connection point for your Mercury or Mariner fuel system. Thread it in, attach your line fitting, and the leak is sorted before your next trip out
