You're prototyping a circuit and the last thing you need is to spend half an hour drilling every pad before you touch a soldering iron. This small experimenters board comes pre-punched, so you go straight from sketch to solder.
Each donut pad is separated from its neighbours by roughly 0.5mm. That gap isolates each pad on its own, but it's narrow enough that a blob of solder bridges two pads in one pass when you need a connection. No jumper wires cluttering the board.
The fingers on both ends sit at a 3.6mm edge pitch – plug them into a card-edge connector or use them as input/output points without adding extra headers.
And because the non-solder side has an alpha-numeric grid, you can label your components and actually find pad C4 six months from now.
Low cost, zero drilling, straight to building. That's the point.
