You've got eight drives that need a direct, no-frills connection and a RAID controller is just adding latency you don't need. The 4350-8i gives you eight internal SAS or SATA ports at 12 Gb/s on a single card. Drop it into your ThinkSystem server, run your cabling, and the drives are visible to the OS with zero translation layer in between. It's the card for when you want raw drive access — SAN back-end, JBOD, or a storage array where the controller sits elsewhere. Lenovo ISG built it, so it's a straight fit, no adapter, no compatibility spreadsheet
