You've got a gigabit switch in the server room and a PC or IP phone three rooms down. The copper run is marginal, the link keeps dropping, and you need a clean fibre hop without a full re-cable.
The GCR2000ST does one job well: takes your 10/100/1000Base-T copper signal and pushes it out a fixed 1000Base-SX multimode SC port. Range tops out at 550 metres on standard multimode fibre — plenty for most in-building runs, wiring-closet hops, or a short cross-site link.
Use it standalone on a bench, or slide it into an Alloy DCR12 chassis when you're converting multiple links in the same rack. Hot-swap means you can swap units without pulling power. Link Fault Passthrough (Forced and Far-end Fault) keeps your monitoring honest when the far end goes dark.
Plugpack or USB power. All-metal case. No fiddly SFP module to source — the SC port is fixed and ready to accept your patch cord
