You've got a long HDMI run and you also need control signals getting through — RS-232 for a serial terminal, IR for a remote, maybe a video wall layout that needs scaling to match your display. The ATEN VE805R handles all of it on one Cat 5e/6 cable. Extends 1080p up to 60m (Cat 5e/6) or 70m (Cat 6a). Built-in scaler matches output to whatever display you've got at the far end.
